Call Forwarding refers to the re-routing of Inbound Extension Calls to another destination. Call Forwarding is assumed to be temporary and allows the user to easily revert back to their normal Call Routing.
PureEdge strongly advises against using the Call Forward feature that may be available on your deskphone. Using the phone to perform the Call Forward prevents the ability to modify the setting remotely, inhibits our ability to troubleshoot any issues and can "break" certain system features such as Ring Groups.
NOTE: Calls that are Forwarded to an Outside Number will utilize two (2) Call Paths for the duration of the call. You may need to check with your Administrator to confirm that there are enough Call Paths available to support the volume of calls expected.
Call Forwarding will override all other Inbound Dialing Rules assigned to the Extension.
There are four Destinations Types that can be assigned:
- Outside Number: A phone number that is not on the PureEdge system (i.e. cellphone, answering service, etc)
- Enter the Destination's 10-Digit Phone Number in the secondary box. Only enter digits into this field, no special characters such as dashes, spaces or parentheses.
- SIP Trunk: a phone system that is connected to our service. Rarely used.
- Extension: Follow the Inbound Dialing Rules for another Extension.
- Mailbox: Route immediately to a Voicemail Box
