Comcast is reporting that one of their backbone providers has had a fiber cut which is impacting several providers.

If you have not yet heard or seen, as of 12:40 PM EDT, Comcast is experiencing a major issue with their network. Unfortunately, this means you may experience service interruptions outside of our control.
Despite our redundant and failover connections with our network providers, it is still possible Comcast is involved with carrying traffic, which is unfortunately beyond our control.
Below are results from the Down Detector website representing Comcast’s problems and they have acknowledged the issue to CNBC.
We are continuing to work with Comcast to monitor the situation and we will keep you updated as more information is obtained.

We are currently receiving calls from customers regarding issues with calls completing and phone registrations. Comcast is experiencing issues which could be causing post dial delay, call setup problems and call drops. We are also seeing serious network issues across the Internet. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you once resolved.
